Mental Health and Wellbeing at St Teresa's

At St Teresa's Catholic Primary School, we strive to encourage our pupils to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

We support our pupils to develop positive mental health and emotional wellbeing, primarily through our PSHE Curriculum and other curriculum areas. In addition to this, we offer targeted support for children who require further guidance and advice.

If you would like to discuss the mental health or wellbeing of your child, please contact their class teacher or Miss Phillips, our Senior Mental Health Lead.

Compass Bloom

We are delighted to be working in conjunction with Compass Bloom, a charity that offers mental health and emotional wellbeing support to children and young people. The team from Compass Bloom work in school for one afternoon per week. They offer one to one support and group support for children as well as sessions for parents/carers and training for school staff.

Compass Bloom specifically aims to work with children in order to help them build their skills to cope with:

  • Low mood: sadness, low motivation
  • Mild to moderate anxiety: worries, irrational fears and concerns
  • Difficulty in adjusting to change and transition
  • Difficulty in managing emotions: angry outbursts, frustration and distress
