RE Life in School - Spring Term 2026
We were joined by our friends from Cafod, Doreen and Jim Ellison, who introduced the Cafod Lenten Appeal. During assembly, they spoke about how climate change poses challenges to farmers across the world. Some farmers struggle due to drought conditions whilst farmers in other areas of the world face problems due to too much rain. Farmers in Bangladesh have tried to solve this problem by creating 'floating gardens' to grow crops in their flooded fields. Jim and Doreen delivered workshops to Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y6 where each class had the opportunity to explore these situations in greater detail. The DOVES will be holding a cake sale at the next DOVES Take Over Mass in order to raise money for Cafod's Lenten Appeal. Our hope is to raise enough money to purchase a 'floating garden' to help the farmers in Bangladesh.
Our Autumn Term came to a close as we joined together with our families for our annual Christingle Service in St Teresa's Church.
As part of their Design and Technology unit, Year 6 made toys for our Year 1 children. The Year 6 children spoke to their Year 1 friends and asked them to design a soft toy. Using the designs drawn by the Year 1s, Year 6 worked incredibly hard to create the toys. The Year 6s then gifted the toys to the Year 1 children who were absolutely delighted to receive them. The Year 1 children repaid the favour by writing 'thank you' cards and hand delivered them to their Year 6 buddies. During an RE lesson, the Year 6 were asked how it felt to give something that they had worked so hard on. One child said, "The feeling was indescribable, like nothing I've ever felt before but I definitely want to feel it again!"
